When the soldier Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes up in the body of an unidentified man, he found himself to be part of a mission to find bombers train in Chicago. Perform a task that he'd never done before, he knew that he was part of a government experiment called the "Source Code," a program that allowed it to pass into the identity of another person within 8 minutes before the end of life. Within seconds, a bigger threat to kill millions of people downtown Chicago, Colter tried to build a series of events over and over again, collecting clues, until he can solve the mystery and prevent the next threat.
